  Effective June 01, 2000, the Provincial Government of Manitoba has eliminated the fee for services.

PROVINCIAL SERVICES:

THOSE ENTITLED TO REGISTER UNDER THE ADOPTION ACT ARE:

• Birthparents of an adoptee
• Adult adoptees
• Adoptive parents, with consent of the adult adoptee, or if the adoptee is deceased
• Adult birth siblings of an adoptee
• Adult adoptive siblings of an adoptee, if the adoptee is deceased

Those entitled to request an active search are adult adoptees, birth mothers, birth fathers and siblings. The fee for search is $265.00 plus any vital statistics costs, payable prior to the start of the search.  Search fees will be waived for registrants who are in receipt of social assistance from any level of government, federal, provincial, municipal or city/town/band.   

        Even though you may have registered with the Post Adoption Reunion Registry in the past, you
        will now have to complete a Request for Search form.  To receive a copy of the required form,

IDENTIFYING BACKGROUND INFORMATION:  Must be requested through Post Adoption Reunion Register.

NON-IDENTIFYING BACKGROUND INFORMATION  - must be requested through the Post Adoption Reunion Register.  

FEES:  There are no fees for services.

ACTIVE SEARCH;  those eligible to request an active search are adult adoptees (over 19 years), birth mothers, birth fathers and siblings and adopting parents, with consent of the adult adoptee, or if the adoptee is deceased. (See list above). 

COUNSELING:  Parties may be referred to outside services.

STAFFING:  Number of staff not available.

SERVICE DELIVERY:  Approximately one year or less.

ACCESS/OPENNESS:   Access to adoption information is controlled through the Post Adoption Reunion Register.
